In Memory of Host John
June 20, 1922 -- September 6, 2005

The following is the greeting Host John wrote to welcome all to this web site:

"I want to introduce myself as Host for Elders Without Walls.  I was asked by the Webmaster if I would like to contribute to the activities of Elders Without Walls and I thought it would be a privilege to do so.

"I am 83 years old, born in 1922 (a wonderful year) in La Crosse, Wisconsin.  My wife and I have lived and worked in many parts of the United States in the telecommunications industry.  We retired in Tampa, Florida some 18 years ago.  We keep active doing work around the house and yard, and visit with friends.

"Elders Without Walls has been a favorite web site for us as it gives us the opportunity to talk with others our age by way of E-mails.  We also surf the net by way of the links that it provides."

About this Site...

This web site is designed to be a communication vehicle for the residents of all assisted living facilities, including nursing homes and retirement homes.

The Message Board and the E-Mail Pen-Pal Directory provide an easy and fun way for the residents of these facilities to correspond with each other and with the general public.

Family members, staff, and volunteers assist residents that need help by posting new messages on the message board for them, and by helping them read and reply to their e-mail messages.

Residents of assisted living facilities may have their names and e-mail addresses appear on this web site on the E-Mail Pen-Pal Directory page if they would like to receive e-mail messages from others in assisted living facilities and from the general public.

Residents may also provide information such as hobbies and interests, former occupations, the name of their home town, and military branch and units (if applicable).

If you are interested in sending an e-mail to these residents, please browse through our E-Mail Pen-Pal Directory to find someone with whom you share a common interest or background.

Residents, please go to the E-Mail Pen-Pal Directory page and fill out the on-line form if you would like your name and e-mail address to appear on this web site.

Members of the general public are welcome, and we invite and encourage you to participate in the message board discussions and to post a message of greeting to the residents.

This message board is monitored by the web masters.  Any offensive postings will not be read to the residents and will be deleted immediately.

Thank you for visiting The "Elders Without Walls" web site!  We hope that you will "drop by" often to visit with us on the message board!
